Children's Library Fundraising Completed!
Schools & Kids, posted by Kathy Miller, a resident of the Community Center neighborhood, on Jan 10, 2007 at 3:44 pm

Thank you to all you wonderful Palo Altans who donated money so that our children can read in chairs, study at tables, checkout library books on their own, and find their way around the library. The Palo Alto Library Foundation's fundraising efforts -- the so-called "What's Missing?" campaign you might have seen on signs around town -- is complete. By September (if everything goes well), the Children's Library will re-open fully furnished!

Great news about the fundraising campaign! I have a silly question and have to admit I haven't done any research on it: Why weren't chairs, tables, etc. included in the original budget for the Children's library? I have to admit I was a bit surprised to learn that there was this funding shortfall. Any answers would be appreciated. Thanks.
