Mandarin Immersion supporters love farms Schools & Kids, posted by Nico, a resident of the Midtown neighborhood, on Jan 8, 2007 at 4:42 pm
Sorry, I know the title is a little silly. I just wanted to squish a rumor I have heard now from 2 people. If portables are added to Ohlone for MI, or non-MI, expansion they will NOT raze the farm. I just called Ohlone to confirm, and according to the office, it is completely not true. The woman in the office actually laughed.
On a personal note, I am a huge supporter of MI. I am also a former volunteer guide (for 3 years) at Hidden Villa Farm. When I lived in Los Altos, I used to be a Hidden Villa CSA member. The farm is one of the reasons I am personally so excited about Superintendent Callanís recommendation to put the MI pilot at Ohlone.
I hope that the intent of the rumor was not malicious, or meant to portray MI supporters as so unaware of the Ohlone Way that we would be party to razing the farm. I also truly hope that this rumor started out as conjecture or a misunderstanding.

Mandarin Immersion, huh? Haven't heard of it. Could someone take a few moments to give me the complete background on this form of education, the research behind it, successful models, and review how the proposal came about in PAUSD, and the pros and cons of various implementation models. I'd SURE appreciate it!
And since we have this rumor "squishing" thread, where's the rumor mongering thread?
