2007 wishes for all Palo Altans

Original post made by California Dreamin' on Jan 2, 2007

Decent libraries (although the email reminders are a great resource that other libraries don't have)

Decent language education for all PAUSD children

Decent school boundaries which get everyone where they want to be

Decent shopping - without having to go to Mountain View, Menlo Park, etc.

Decent restaurant to take children without breaking the budget

Decent neighborhoods, which we have, with thoughtful, caring, neighbors who care.

Wishing everyone a wonderful, peaceful and decent 2007.

Feel Free to add your own wishes.

Have you tried Pluto's on University as an inexpensive, kid friendly restaurant with healthy food?

Plenty of other libraries have email reminders - try some of them. You just need to go in with identification and get a library card. It doesn't matter that you live in Palo Alto instead of that city. Some local libraries - such as Mountain View - belong to the statewide Link system which allows for interlibrary loans from college and public libraries from all over the state - a wonderful benefit! And, yes, Mountain View will email you that your Link book has arrived.

Mary

Yes, thanks for your comment and I do realise what you say.

My daughter has just moved to San Jose for school and borrowed several books from the public library. She is so used to getting an email reminder when the books are due that she "forgot" to return them and ended up with a huge fine. Now, she has to write the due date on her calendar so that she doesn't forget. This is what prompted my comment. Sometimes, we make big deals about the disadvantages of a system, but forget the fact that they have good points to, perhaps better than more modern systems elsewhere.
