PAUSD policy on students driving themselves to afterschool activities?

Original post made by Parent, Palo Alto High School, on Sep 21, 2007

In the light of the recent accident to two students en route to an after school sporting fixture, it seems prudent to ask if PAUSD has a policy about students driving themselves and their peers there and how it is enforced? This is not just for sports, e.g. I know that the Paly choir has to be in San Francisco next week at 6.30 a.m. with no transport provided and the only information on how to get there is to use Caltrain, but it is up to the families to organise how they get there.

Teen driving laws are being tightened up. Are our school administrations stepping up here or what is the situation?

How would PAUSD enforce anything? That is up to parents, not school administrators.

Agreed. This is a parent decision, not a school decision.
