Recently I was staying with a relative in Washoe County outside Reno, Nevada. I was amazed to find out how many of their neighbors work in Silicon Valley and commute back and forth.

They either fly or drive down to the Bay Area on Sunday evening and return on Friday evening the same way. They rent a room in the Bay area to live in during the week and send their children to school in Washoe County which has excellent schools.

One neighbor who lives in Washoe County, the husbands works in Silicon Valley and the wife works in El Paso, Texas. Both commute to their respective places to work during the week, and they spend the weekend together in Reno. This is a completely new definition of the word "commute"!!!

Palo Alto Weekly Holiday Fund

For the last 23 years, the Palo Alto Weekly Holiday Fund has given away more than $4 million to local nonprofits serving children and families. When you make a donation, every dollar is automatically doubled, and 100% of the funds go directly to local programs. It’s a great way to ensure your charitable donations are working at home.
