Holocaust Survivors Share Stories in Honor of Holocaust Remembrance Day

Original post made by lew697, Charleston Gardens, on Apr 12, 2013

To truly understand the fear, the pain and the atrocities of the Holocaust, you must listen to those who survived. In honor of Yom Ha’Shoah or Holocaust Remembrance Day, many of the survivors who live at Moldaw Residences shared their stories in a moving memorial service. 87-year-old Moldaw resident Zdenka Levy, remembers having to wear the humiliating yellow star on her arm; she spent a year behind fences and barbed wire in a concentration camp and 11 members of her family were murdered during the Holocaust. 74-year-old Moldaw resident Liliane Kuhn, was an infant separated from her parents who spent four years hidden on a farm in France to avoid the Nazis furor. Her 78-year-old husband, Al Kuhn, experienced the trauma of being arrested, having his father in a concentration camp and watching his family lose its business and most possessions before being the last family to board a ship for Bolivia where they escaped and lived for ten years.
