If the city really wanted to get money for a new parking structure they could just give more tickets on middlefield rd and parking tickets Loma Verde Ave. I have seen cops completely ignore this area every weekend, the cops get snotty when you point out to them that there are at least 10 to 15 cars parked in no parking area. Either remove the bike lane or enforce the law and get some money.

Also enforce the speed limits on middlefield, but I also heard from a city official that they cannot do that because it disrupts business in midtown. Wonder who is getting paid off or incentives not to enforce the law........

It seems to me that color of Palo Alto is pretty darn close to the green color on the left side of this page ... if any color can that color reminds me or all the signs and green plants of Palo Alto ... although Palo Alto should have a red/brown component as well, but then it looks dried out and we want to avoid that allusion at all costs! I think Palo Alto Online found it! Do they have a patent on that color or can anyone use it? ;-)

logical, a resident of the Midtown neighborhood brings up the speed limit in Middlefield road as a problem or potential source of revenue.

I think it's a bad idea. Leave well enough alone. I very rarely see anyone doing anything stupid or dangerous on Middlefield. Traffic seems to find its own safe speed and if that doesn't keep the speed down the traffic usually does. Don't make people crazy with excess tickets unless they are disrupting traffic of driving dangerously is my opinion, that should be the requirement in all tickets, not just some technical excuse for an officer with nothing better to do to raise revenue for the city.

In all honesty, considering that my husband has met and talked with uck on a number of occasions, he does not always make the most well-though-out, rational decisions. Just because he has billions of dollars laying around does not mean he has sound judgment.

Cherie is right, the Soviet Union used the regional government as a way to enforce uniformity and limit freedom of the Russian, Ukrainian, etc people. It does not provide true representation, and is possibly unconstitutional. It is certainly unAmerican and discourages local identity, rights, and uniqueness.

Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it! Do we want to lose our democracy "region" by "region"?
