Sounds like a burglary in progress was reported, and the cops showed up hoping to catch the guy in the act.

"Sounds like a burglary ..,", how ? You have good ears I guess.

There were a lot of officers with guns drawn, one had a rifle standing behind trees, all looking intently from outside the house which was several houses south from the Alma/Churchill intersection. I don't know what it was but I was stopped at the red light right outside of it and I was hoping a gunfight did not break out. I did not read anything on the news about this yet so I hope it was nothing as major as it looked.

Cops aren't going to swarm an area with guns drawn unless they have a report of an armed suspect in the area. If it was an armed robbery, there should have been a press release by now. If it was a domestic violence situation, then maybe no press release.

Well its good to know they are doing their job. The glass panel closest to my door-knob on my old farm-style door broke when my key got stuck & broke in the knob. My partner left me alone and took our car later in the day to go get another door. 20 or so minutes later, while on the phone with my partner, my dogs start barking and run to the door. I ask my partner if it is her at the door and she says no. I walk towards the door and next thing I know I see a gloved hand reach through the broken panel and my dog jumped up and bit his wrist and he yells out. I yell Im calling the cops and I hear a car drive away. My phone blocked my 911 call so I called non-emergency to tell them what happened and for the cops to come out. The lady on the phone explained that since the window was already broken they did no damage and I was lucky because animal control could get called on my dog for biting someone. It wasnt really the police officers who let me down as much as their administration. I understand no damage was done but I eel with all the break ins it would behoove them to at least take a report.
