Actually part of it is, in a way, GW Bush's fault. He appointed Alito to the Supreme Court (after Harriet was floated).

You want "big money" in politics? We give "religious" organizations $71 BILLION in tax exemptions each and every year yet they continue to lobby against women's rights, gay right etc. Revoke their tax exemptions.

Big Money? How about Google's initial Moffett Field lease of
69,737 sq.' including hangar 1 for $57,575/mo? No NNN - no taxes on land as gov owned.
Guestimate from observation may be inaccurate but here goes.
NASA's repeated public statements to excess Moffett have gone silent. Airship Venture (Zeppelin) closed down - their 1/13 facilities auction demonstrated Google's confidence in NASA partnership. Google's newly announced 1M Sq' new construction at Moffett - only legal by federal code if in partnership with NASA.
Newly announced outer space internet must be qualifier. So here we are subsidizing Google's Double Irish/Bahamian (legal) tax strategies - additionally providing land producing no property tax; and Google exec calls it the Democratic Way. Disappointing to see this stuff going on.
Google individuals and execs were major election donors; economic policy advisers were SV VC's who design these tax strategies and offshore jobs.
Impact on much needed tax revenues for Santa Clara County infrastructure is devastating - NASA/Google will generate no property tax. Corporate tax strategy will further deplete the county.
Expect post will vanish for objectionable content. Transparency in government?

The corruption trickles down to all levels. Who wouldn't do almost anything for money, especially cash? Look at the real estate market in Palo Alto now, for example.
Bush's dad sold government buildings to the Japanese for money. God knows what Obama is selling to the Chinese to pay off our national debt.
