PA schools vs. neighboring districts

I suppose that it can be a delicate balance between wanting kids to get exposure to the "real world" and not becoming too insular in the privileged PA "bubble" that some here have referred to while also providing them with a stimulating environment with motivated, academically-oriented peers. Just how good or bad are things in other districts relative to PA?
