Prep football teams still in the running for playoff berths

This we know for sure: The Sacred Heart Prep football team has qualified for the Central Coast Section playoffs for a second straight season. This is what we also know: Palo Alto is all but a lock for yet another appearance in the postseason. For Gunn, its first return to the CCS playoffs since 2002 is probable. For Menlo, the Knights certainly are on the bubble. With the 2009 high school football regular season winding down, a lot still can happen starting this weekend.

Paly has already locked up a CCS spot. Even if they don't get one of the 3 AQ spots, they have more than enough points to qualify for an at-large slot. The only question now is will they win out and end up in the Open division (will also need Palma to beat San Benito tonight for that to happen) or will they end up in D-II?

Hopefully Paly isn't too cocky going into today's game: the JV team lost to Mountain View yesterday, 20-19, after steamrolling over their previous several opponents.

Gunn won both games tonight!!! I am very surprise Paly JV lost, cocky it the right words. Just like USC. Did the varsity win tonight, I hope so!!!
