Mayfield - a hit
Sports, posted by Soccer Mom, a resident of the Palo Verde neighborhood, on Sep 25, 2006 at 3:59 pm

My son had his first soccer game at the new Mayfield site. It was a pleasure to attend his game, and at last feel that we have something to be proud of in Palo Alto. The parking was great, once you got used to finding how to get in. The tables around the closed snack bar was a great idea for after game snacks and team meetings. The bathrooms were a pleasure to use. However, I did see some people disosbeying the rules. I am sure that this was because they were poorly posted and the coaches did not make sure the teams obeyed the rules, let alone the spectators. I saw dogs on the field, glass bottles, gatorade, snacks, scooters and even wheeled coolers being dragged on the "grass". I think everyone was pleased to be there, but we do need to look after the field by obeying the rules. Otherwise in a few years time it will not be something to be proud of. Please everyone, lets obey the rules for our own good, and pleased have the rules posted where they can be read!

Dear Socer Mom,

Thanks for the input. There are some things that still need "tweaking" at Mayfield, and your point about making sure the rules are clearly and prominently posted is well taken. I will make sure to mention this to Community Services staff when I see them at our monthly meeting on September 26.
