A billion-dollar year for Silicon Valley foundation

A contribution worth $500 million from Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg helped propel the Silicon Valley Community Foundation to a record-breaking year in amassing charitable funds in 2012 -- $985 million altogether, officials said Tuesday.

Isn't this the foundation that has advocated immigration reform? Since they wanted more visas for high-performing technical types who they might hire at lower salaries than current citizens donations might be thought of as a tax-deductible political contribution.

@Jon: Zuckerberg has been actively working toward immigration reform; and of course this has a lot to do with hiring foreign born engineers and nothing to do with Mexican laborers.

But, is there evidence that the charitable foundation puts money toward political lobbying? I would think that would not be legal.

I can't imagine PAHC doing any political lobbying.

May be they can build some affordable housing units for folks in need. Facebook is building 394 apartments, in which only 15 will be allocated to low-income folks . This billion could of could do wonders when we're talking about affordable housing.
