Another candidate for this year's Darwin Award.
Interesting the number of business-related crimes that are quickly dealt with because of srveillance cameras. Yet, the City of Palo Alto Police don't seem to be advocating for this sort of equipment in public places, where street crimes sometimes occur.
Not to condone a robbery, but I can understand how stressful it must be for someone who is poor to see so much money being made by people who sell junk, or calories to the overweight..
Huh? So, employee is disgruntled and poor because he's mad at his employer?
This business provided a job for him.
He's a thief! What else is he capable of when options are made available to him?
What do we owe people from lower economic homes? The keys to our homes and businesses?
Unbelievable, only in PA have I seen such comments such as yours. It is called personal responsibility, does he just have to apologize and if you were the owner of this business would you not press charges as he is just a poor?

This shop is guilty of a crime that, alas, it not illegal. They supply inadequate trash cans of their own, so the patrons rely on a city trash can that overflows and makes the whole area a mess and eyesore.
The owners of this shop have effectively been stealing from the city by making the taxpayers of Palo Alto pay for cleaning up after their patrons. I say that this shop should put out a large trash can that they empty often throughout the day. They should use compostable spoons, not plastic ones, and compost everything as does Fraiche.
I don't condone the illegal stealing from this employer, nor do I condone the not yet illegal appropriation of city resources by this business. I've not seen other similar businesses generating comparable amounts of trash elsewhere in the city. Other ice cream and yogurt shops aren't such a nuisance.
Did this guy live in a bubble? How could he think he wouldn't be caught? Must not understand technology of today.
I can't imagine what would make this kid think he would get away with it. He had to know there are cameras, he worked there. It's as if he WANTED to get caught.

It happened at 2am, around the time the bars close, and he left cash strewn on the floor. Clearly, this was an act of impulsive, drunken stupidity.
Anymouse, you didn't read the 2-line post before you started spitting self righteousness.
In case you have trouble with reading comprehension, I said I understood what might have motivated him, nothing at all about giving him the "keys to our homes and businesses."
Understanding the world is a useful skill that seems in short supply. [Portion removed by Palo Alto Online staff.]
Don't miss out on the discussion!
