Unemployment rates typically increase after Christmas season, right? Is the increase in this article more or less than average for the past 10 years?

stephen levy is a registered user.

The article confuses seasonally adjusted rates (that take inot account normal seasonal variations like post holiday layoffs) with non-seasonally adjusted data.

The Palo Alto data is not seasonally adjusted.

The CA data not seasonally afjusted for Decembre 2012 is 9.8% versus January 2013 of 10.4%.

the article compares apples to oranges so to speak and has no informative value at all.

Apples and oranges blended together make a tastier refreshment than provided by statistical honesty.

Ok, unemployment rate increase, but...what about population growth???, youths are in a need of a job, there is only one job versus 2 youths. We have to understand the consequences of population growing, other thing is the age of pension, government has to increase the age of productivity, we can not say that we can not work more at the age of 60...what??? my half life is gonna be a parasite??? hells no, I respect the elderly but honestly they are 10 versus 5 young adults, and 10 versus 3 youths, they are gaining money without moving a finger. I won't stop to be productive even at the age of 70 o 80, hope to live till there!!!.
