Late night phone ring
Around Town, posted by Simon, a resident of the Downtown North neighborhood, on Feb 14, 2013 at 4:29 pm

Recently I've been hearing a phone ring late night / early morning. It rings just once. Has an electronic tone not a bell. Is outside, well as far as I can tell not coming from inside someones home. It is not at a set time but I have heard it several times around 3:30 am.

I seem to recall that this had something to do with a fire department monitoring system?

Does anyone know what it is for?

Thanks

Do you have a burglar alarm or computer hooked up to your phone line? How old are your phone lines? Sounds like some kind of surge on your line, which could be caused by poorly connected equipment on your end. Try talking to your neighbors to see if anyone else is experiencing the same problem.

Hi,

No it's not a problem with my phone, it isn't my phone ringing.

It's not so much a problem just a curiosity.

If I where to take a WAG at it I'd say the sound comes from the top of a telephone poll, but that could just be sound reflection.
