BMR's for police, teachers.etc? Better check out current living in BMR's here in town...

Who would want to live under the rules of the BMR's?? They are not comfortable rules to live by. You, first of all, loose all your privacy rights. Management has the right to come into your unit for any reason, at any time. For any frivilous reason. Management opened up my bathroom door as I was drying off from the shower one time. AND Management had company with him and proceeded to come thru my unit like I was not there. That was after I left them a note on my door to please come back shortly. Total disrespect for me.
The upkeep on the units that were built on the interest free loans are deteriorating. Leaking pipes are a problem, not only in the units themselves, but also out in the grounds. Units on Park Blvd are being infested with mold, termites and the units are not that old. Mold is a huge problem at the Terman Apartments. A few lawsuits have emerged there.
Terman has a sign out by the mailboxes that states that units there "may cause cancer" by living there, a statement to release the owners of any liability.........many living there have come down with cancer, some have died.
On another thread, someone mentions that Police, city workers, etc., would not want a BMR unit as the quality of life without space ( like a nice backyard and the room to park) would be given up. (Right. What a way to live.)
Those people who are currently occupying the small BMR units are grateful to be able breathe the same air as does the millionaire who lives down the block. Giving up their rights, any and all, to be exposed to the cancer causing building materials to be able to do that.
But hey, this is Palo Alto and for the "fortunate few" that "win the lottery" to be able to live in the BMR's, they deal with it.
The ones that are building these units have been making a great deal of money off them. They use the cheapest materials and labor available. Then hire the management for low wages (ask them what they get!!) Then cash in on the deal at tax time. I probably should not be sounding off on the land, building scheme profitablity as the apts. have given "homes" to those who otherwise would be in a serious delimma without a BMR. May the cheating continue. God Bless America.
