Fewer drunk drivers on the roads or not enough cops to catch them all?

A more useful statistic is how many crashes and fatalities were caused by drunk drivers this year.

Gas prices are down nationally.

Why are you predicting ten dollars a gallon?

There is a glut of oil in the US. Highest in 8 years. Drill, baby drill has us actually exporting oil products for the first time in a long time. Record number of drilling rigs, etc. Drill baby drill hasn't lowered prices at all, as was promised.

This is the preferred "environmental" solution. To cripple the auto industry/car culture by driving up the price of gas to incredibly high prices.

One of the big questions for budgeting a European vacation is the price of gas. In short, European prices are considerably higher than they are in America, about 2.3 x higher.

There are many here in the US who believe that parity with Europe is one way to force people onto publicly-owned transportation. This 2.3X current California gas prices comes close to $10/gal.

Oil companies keep gas prices in California high by (1) conveniently shutting down multiple refineries for maintenance all at the same time and (2) exporting oil and gasoline to foreign countries. Yes, it is a conspiracy among multiple oil companies.

Really? You're gonna go with that? Well, it is true that there are some refineries off-line at the moment, but the requirements for boutique blends of gasoline unique to California is something that the Oil companies would rather do without.
