How seriously are the cops taking this crime. Sounds like there is lots of physical evidence, including the "heavy object" used to clobber the victim and finger prints on the bicycle. Are the police making any attempt to process this evidence, or are they just relying on the eye witness identifications?

Imagine being the one threatened. Always wondering if he really might come back after a few years in the joint to get revenge. If it was me, and the guy fought it, I would make sure to confront him BEFORE he came back, and make sure i am safe by permantly removing the threat. GZ did that , and is now suffering because he had to make that decision on the spot. This guy and his family are trying to profit from his wrong doing. They got him on camera. Go to his facebook. Learn about him and his family who support this malarky. Look at their pictures, so if you ever run into them, you know who NOT to trust

I noticed the victim didnt press charges for assault. Poor guy has to live with worries. He should charge this guy so other meth heads in mountain view and paloalto think twice before doing someone else bodily harm to get a fix.! I was robbed at work once, and i was hesitant at first, but when i saw a woman crumble in court out of fear, I didnt!! I made sure that garbage was locked away for years! Think of the others he might harm! DONT BE AFRAID! PRESS CHARGES!!! Keep mountain view clean of this garbage!

"He should charge this guy so other meth heads in mountain view and paloalto think twice before doing someone else bodily harm to get a fix.!"

You are making the incorrect assumption that meth heads know and care about what happens to other meth heads, and that they can think. Meth is a "stupid pill" that clouds rational thought with its strong addiction. People on meth are dangerous, when they would not be dangerous were they not on meth. This guy was dangerous, as evidenced by his assault on the victim. He needs to be removed from society to prevent him repeating this sort of thing. Of course, his removal from society might actually enable him to live longer than if he is free to pursue his own way. A warm dry bed and 3 squares per day and free healthcare is a more maintainable lifestyle than sleeping under bridges and committing crimes for a fix.

Which costs society at least $35,000 a year--if you are suggesting incarceration.

What would you suggest for a probably repeat offender with violent tendancies?

He is non violent offender. HE HAS NEVER BEEN VIOLENT TO ANYONE! or any living thing. He has his own bike. Takes light rail locks bike up at mt.view light rail. How was he suppose to get get two bikes home? He wouldn't be seen on a cruiser bike!!!! All of the evidence isn't even out yet. So just wait until MVPD has to retract everything. You all won't be saying anything then will you? Hope that you all never find your family member or friends in this situation. Especially someone you are close with and they have NEVER had violent tendencies.

FYI... THESE BOGUS CHARGES HAVE BEEN DROPPED. THE D.A. OFFICE REALIZED THEY DID HAVE THE WRONG MAN. THE "BLACK BAG" SHOWN IN CRAIG'S HANDS IN THIS CVS VIDEO WAS ACTUALLY A BLACK HOODED SWEATSHIRT ACCORDING TO THE POLICE REPORT. HAHA!! YOU REPORTERS REALLY NEED TO GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT BEFORE POSTING B.S. IN YOUR LITTLE COMMUNITY NEWSPAPERS. "METH HEADS" HAHAHAHA! YOU IGNORANT POSTERS REALLY SHOULDN'T SPEAK UNLESS YOU'VE FOUGHT AN ADDICTION YOURSELVES. I PRAY ONE OF YOUR SIBLINGS OR KIDS ENDS UP WITH AN ADDICTION PROBLEM SO YOU CAN TRULY WITNESS IT FIRST HAND. IT'S SO SAD THAT WE LIVE IN A WORLD FULL OF SO MUCH IGNORANCE AND HATRED.
