There is much reported about that time, and a great deal that african americans experienced post Civil War until a more recent time it not always recognized.
What happened at the Brazos River in Texas 50 years later is largely not reported.
Here is a link to a Lyle Lovett performance that reminded me as a Texas resident that black people were still struggling 50 years after.
