I crossed paths with the Beatles a couple of times in my life. I worked in London for the Entertainment Division of the Rank Organization.

The year was 1962 my Boss together with Brian Epstein the Beatles first Manager brought them to London to perform at the Hammersmith Palace. I helped organize this series of performances when songs like "I want to Hold your Hand" and "Love Love me Do" were at the top of the British charts!!!

I emigrated to New York in January, 1964 to be followed by the Beatles a month later in February, 1964. I remember them landing in New York to screams of delighted teenage girls!!! They performed at Candlestick Park and had a bigger audience than Willie Mays and Willie McCovey!!!

haight/ashbury: John Lennon is so necessary now! IMAGINE covers everything we need 2day--Imagine No Borders, I may be a dreamer but I'm not the only one--PEACE. And I hope it wasn't a govt. plot to assasinate him!

Lennon "started out on burgundy but soon hit the harder stuff".

In the Hamburg years it was speed beer and nicotine-- and the music was a good-- derivation of US R&B

By the late 60s it was LSD, meth and heroin and vodka

By the 70s it was heroin, cocaine and PCP.

Lennons "rakes progress" diminished his talent and music

I wasn't going to touch this one, because so many people are true believers in Lennon. However, Sharon has it right...he was a mess. There were no 'opuses', because he did not have the self discipline to write one. For example, "Imagine" is an immature paean to his own delusions.
