Stanford Baseball Announcer Sports, posted by Cardinal Red, a resident of the Old Palo Alto neighborhood, on Mar 10, 2007 at 6:40 pm
Just wanted to express my displeasure with the Stanford Baseball Broadcaster, not sure of her name and frankly I don't need to know, but talk about ridiculous...what they hell were they thinking when they decided to let her in the booth. I can no longer listen to the games as long as this travesty continues. And this has nothing to do about not liking gals in the booth, but she has to be able to do certain things like have some basic speaking skills and some knowledge and appreciation of the game, which is our national past time, in case anybody forgot....get rid of her!

Travesty? Sheesh - KZSU is a *student* radio station. Give the kid a break. You don't have to like it, but you don't have to rail against her here and get all hyperbolic about it.

Hyperbolic, in case you didn't know, means exagerrated...believe me, I could've been much worse....I should mention that I intended for this comment to appear under the sports heading, but it somehow made it to the front pages....and while I realize that this is perhaps not as large as a travesty of squabbles at duck pond, or aggressive squirrels in Mt. View, I am aghast that this young gal is allowed within 200 yards of the athletic village....there should be a restraining order against her......that's hyperbole......and, you don't have to like it either bro!

Just a moment, Cardinal Red. The gal who broadcast on Saturday is a freshman. That was probably her third or fourth game ever to broadcast (I think she did some color commentary on the women's volleyball broadcast at the NCAA's). Give her a chance -- baseball's not the easiest sport to call, and she's still learning... and learning from a master baseball broadcaster like Alex Gyr, no less. (I don't know why Alex was unable to call Saturday's game, but he was there for Friday and Sunday, along with Sean Bruich).
Why don't you email her and offer some friendly constructive criticism?

Wow. That's pretty harsh. I hope it made you feel good to demean a young lady on the internet. Instead of talking to someone who can do something about it.
