Three East Palo Alto teenagers were arrested Tuesday morning, March 24, after they apparently tried to break into a home on the 200 block of Hawthorne Avenue, police said.
The attempted burglary happened around 10:20 a.m. An alert neighbor saw two male teens trying to hoist a female teenager through an open exterior window of a home and yelled at them, police said. The three then ran away and the neighbor called police.
Officers responded to the area and located all three teenagers at the intersection of Bryant Street and Everett Avenue. Investigators said the teens removed the window screens to the home and were trying to enter the home to burglarize it, but were interrupted by the neighbor.
Police arrested all three 15-year-olds for attempted felony residential burglary and felony conspiracy. The three were transported to the Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall.
No additional information on the three teens is available since they are under the age of 18, police said. Police will not be releasing booking photos of the teens.

Sorry, but this needs to end. It’s important to consider age in any facet of life including criminal activity, but to mandate these kinds of things just promotes the use of children in crime, or incentivizes young people to do crimes early so they won’t have to pay the price.

The apparent increase in crime in Palo Alto is a bit concern. We all know we cannot guard and be alert to every home in the city, so all criminals have to do is to drive around and around looking for weak spots. Great job to the alert neighbor as well.
Too much development, too many people, much more crime. So many unfamiliar faces walk our residential streets now. It’s hard to tell who are neighbors and who are not anymore.
The children of the upper middle class and wealthy stress about academics and their future, with some committing suicide.
Meanwhile, the children of the lower middle class and poor have come to a conclusion that it’s alright to break into a upper middle class/wealthy person’s home to steal.
