Question for Editors

Original post made by Hmmm, East Palo Alto, on Aug 8, 2014

How come there's now a selection on Town Square called "Woodland Park" that allows an E. Palo Alto resident to select that as their "neighborhood"? It's actually not a neighborhood, and it never has been. It's the name of the property owner, and I suggest you consider rethinking having that. If you want to have a designated area that E. Palo Alto west side residents can select, why not just call it, "East Palo Alto, West Side"?

Right, this thread reminds me of people who press "Reply to All" when they should simply press "Reply."

Well, I found this to be an interesting catch. Maybe their making it an official Palo Alto neighborhood is a first indication that PA Online will be advocating an annexation of this area by the City of Palo Alto. Could alleviate some of our ABAG mandates.

Musical, that will never happen. We are in a different county from them and there is no way San Mateo County will let E. Palo Alto go. Why would you even think they would? Isn't your thinking awfully Palo Alto-centric?

For the whiner: no one is making you read comments.

Musical: It's listed as an East Palo Alto neighborhood, not Palo Alto.

I don't know. Was the area called Woodland Park before the apartments took the name? I assume it all derives from the name of Woodland Avenue.

So is this tweak to PA Online's neighborhood list proactive or reactive?

Town Square Moderator is a registered user.

A reader asked if we would consider adding this to our list of neighborhoods so people in that area could be specific about where they lived rather than using the "East Palo Alto" tag. That seemed reasonable and harmless to our editors. If you have an alternative suggestion for the name of that area, please feel free to suggest it.

And here I thought it was called Whiskey Gulch....Never did make it to the Manhattan Playhouse before it was closed.

I sympathize with the folks that live on Woodland as they are in part the recipients of the San Francisquito Creek on-going discussion in which nothing happens. We are suppose to be preparing for El Nino - in what ever form it to prevent flooding. So what is happening on that front
Possibly the Weekly could do an update on preparations of the creek as we head into the fall months.
