Menlo College announces its latest Hall of Fame class

The Menlo College Athletics Department announced its 2014 Hall of Fame class, which will enshrine six former standout student-athletes: Bill LeBlanc (baseball & football 1967-68), Mike Bettega (Baseball & Football 1967-68), Mike Simmons (football 1972-74), Maria Gomez (women's basketball 2001-05), Melissa Hara (softball 2001-04) and Kari Shimomura (volleyball 2002-06).

So many fond memories of football and Menlo, 67-68, with all the "guys" plus Bill and Mike. Can still hear Bo chastising Mike with "Hey, Bettega, why the hell don't you throw it a little harder next time!!!" To which Mike would respond with OK coach & throw it so hard that it could cause injury on the receiving end. So glad I wasn't a receiver, it was enough to have your bell rung a few too many times on the line, let alone from "Friendly Fire".
