Three teens arrested for attempted residential burglary

Palo Alto police have arrested three teenagers for attempted residential burglary and conspiracy after an alert resident called 9-1-1 when the resident saw two of them lurking in a neighbor's yard.

As Forrest Gump used to say, "Stupid is as stupid does." What these kids did was extremely stupid. Why, with their whole lives in front of them, would they choose to poison their future with this in their record? I guess we all do stupid things when we are kids, but this is a bit above and beyond the norm. The question is "Can they get smarter in the future?"
