California and Silicon Valley gains through our new best friend, Netanyahu, who is further legitimized, while news stories this week trumpet that Israel tightens its control over the West Bank, the occupation continues, and the Palestinians suffer, and suffer, and suffer.

Shame on us. Shame on Jerry Brown.

Doesn't the US government handle foreign affairs? If Jerry Brown thinks that he's on a par with the President, or that the State of California is really a Nation-State that has powers not are not specified by the US Constitution--shouldn't he at least take that position?

The State of California should not be spending on thin dime of state tax revenue to support Israel or any other country. If Brown wants to encourage private support for Israel that's one thing--but as Governor--he's way of out line here.

The State of California does business with many countries. Arab countries -- who are huge human rights abusers -- among them.

Netanyahu is busy stealing as much Palestinian land as he can, brutalizing thousands of Palestinians in the process and American politicians line up to do him favors. We should be imposing sanctions on Israel, not giving them open access to our technology and trade. Disgusting, hypocritical and thoroughly shameful!

American politicians line up to support Israel because it is the only democracy in the Middle East. While Netanyahu is not my ideal Israeli leader, certain U.S. Presidents weren't my favorites either. Leaders and policies change. The settlements are negotiation wedges.

All of the Arab countries and the Palestinians continually voice, and have certainly demonstrated, their hatred of the Jews and their intention to wipe Israel off the map.

We think 9/11 was awful, and it was --- but consider how it would be to live with Arab bombings of schools, hospitals, stores, restaurants, busses, etc. for 65 years. That's what the wall, and the containment policies, are about.
Consider how it would feel if the Bay Area were Israel and the rest of North American wanted it blasted away.

Morris and Noel-- until the Palestinians learn to be civil, they will suffer. Note how Egypt has banned Hamas, who control the Gaza Strip, as they cnsider them a terrorist organization.
Shame on both of you for supporting terrorism.

"m McL"
Methinks you should read the Bible and some documented history of the last 3000 years...and become familiar with 19th-20th century Middle East history/population. Note: that I haven't gone straight to the Holocaust, but it might be edifying for you.

Dear Neighbor, The US was a democracy for all the years we had slavery and the confederacy was a democracy too as was South Africa during Apartheid. Germany was a democracy when they elected Hitler. [Portion removed.]

You should read your history. The predominantly Muslim Arabs protected their Jews during WWII, unlike the white Christians of Europe who gave them up to the Nazis. Anti Semitism among Arabs is a direct result of the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians by the Zionists.

Dear ProIsrael, is it civil to steal the land of others? Is it civil to break children's arms because they threw rocks at an occupying army? Was it civil for Zionist terrorists to blow up the King David Hotel? To massacre the people of Deir Yassim? To enable the massacres at Shatllla and Sabra? To murder Israeli prime minister Rabin when he pushed too hard for peace? [Portion removed.]
