Online poker, reinvented -- and legal

Original post made on Jan 3, 2014

Under federal and most state law, online poker is illegal. But one Palo Alto man claims his 100-percent skill-based version of the game, which involves no luck or chance, is totally legal.

As a great fan of watching poker on TV I find this fascinating. Best of luck to Mr. Pfeiffer. And how about getting Palo Alto's own "Poker Brat" to try it out?!

Arthur Pfeiffer is a registered user.

This is Arthur Pfeiffer of ThwartPoker Inc. and I would like to clarify a few points in the above article about our free iPhone apps, Hold'em Blitz and Hold'em Battle and future online tournament Texas Block'Em. Note that these multiplayer games involve 3 face-up community cards dealt first followed by 4 rounds where players privately select cards from the same limited deck [portion removed.] Also, these apps should be played face-to-face against other live players since the competitive, psychological and bonding aspects of the direct human experience play such a critical role in shaping one's attitude toward a multiplayer game.

I'm boggled by grown men who spend so much energy playing games. For some it is even a lifetime occupation.
When I was young, being grown up meant having a real occupation, not playing games.

I'm a grown man, and playing games is a super way to keep one's mind agile and sharp. I love strategy games, and ThwartPoker is among the best! Try it before you knock it.
