On Deadline: Upsurge in teen crisis, drug referrals reported by counseling service

There has been an upsurge in crisis-level referrals in the past year to therapists at the Adolescent Counseling Service, based in Palo Alto but serving neighboring communities for emotional crises, mental-health counseling and alcohol/substance-abuse problems.

These teens need to help someone who is less fortunate than they are... feeding the homeless, volunteering to clean graffiti, improving their communities, exercising homeless animals, helping little first graders with homework, etc. Teaching them to want to help their communities would get these troubled teens out of their rut.
