Just downtown tonight ... noticed lots of scratched plate glass ?

Original post made by Anon., Crescent Park, on Nov 29, 2012

I went downtown tonight to eat dinner. We had the usual great salads at Sprouts Cafe, and as we went out the door for a stroll down University and back I began to notice that many many stores and businesses have had their front plate glass windows scribbled on with what I guess are the diamond scribing tools. As we walked from block to block it was pretty much all down the street on random windows.

Wow, evolutionized graffiti. What a shame. My guess is they are not Palo Alto residents. Extremely frustrating. Perhaps happens in the wee hours.

Is this some sort of gang initiation activity? I agree, extensive camera surveillance is called for, and active police attempts to catch these idiotic vandals.

From the looks of it, either it is a gang thing, or someone is raving mad at those businesses. This will not be a cheap, easy cleanup. The perps need to be found and prosecuted. It is surprising that there is not more video surveillance downtown in the first place.

There are so many bums Downtown. Why is this a surprise?
