I support the President's values on issues including women's rights and empowerment, a welcoming immigration policy and full equaity for gay residents.
I support his belief that investment in education, infrastructure and research is critical to American economic competitiveness.
I support his belief that we are connected and stand or fail together and that success demands full opportuntity for all Americans. I believe that entrepreneurs and investors are important for innovation and economic success but that part of that succss depends on government policies that support education, infrastructure and basic research.
I believe in corporate tax reform that reduces exemptions in exchange for lower rates but I do not find evidence that cutting rates for high income folks is the best approach to growing the economy.
I find his foreign policy far better suited for the current world than the cowboy mentality of the other party. It is a pkeasant surprise to be winding down two wars that no one owned up to paying for and finding American stature higher than in recent history. Obama's policy on attacking terrorists is another pleasant surprise.
I think there are some areas where Republicans and Democrats could find agreement in the middle if they chose after the eelection.
But elections are about choices as both candidates tell us and for me this is an easy choice.
For my values and my vision of the economy and world, I will be voting for President Obama in November.
