A 14-year-old Los Altos boy and his 13-year-old Saratoga girlfriend are missing and believed driving out of California in his grandfather’s car, according to Los Altos Police Sgt. John Korges and the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Department.

James Palmerson and Roslyn Marshall were reported missing at 9 a.m. Sunday.

“Palmerson and Marshall are in a dating relationship and the disappearance is believed to be voluntary on both counts,” Korges said.

Police first believed the two were driving to Las Vegas but now have reason to also notify authorities in Utah and Colorado, Korges said.

No amber alert was issued because it is not a stranger kidnapping, Korges said. “We just want them back safely.”

Palmerson had been living with his grandparents in Los Altos, while his mother has been interviewed by police.

They are believed to be driving a grey 2005 Honda Civic with a California license number of 5NLM445.

Palmerson is 5-feet, 9-inches tall and weighs 150 pounds. He has black hair and green eyes. Marshall is 5-feet, 6-inches tall and weighs 130 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information about the two is asked to call the Los Altos Police Department at 650-947-2770, Sgt. Mark Tarabini of the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Department at 408-808-4500 or the department’s anonymous tip line at 408-808-4431.

  1. This 14 year old (and 13 year old) know how to drive a car, but perhaps have no idea how to deal with traffic. Anyone out there on the highways is at great risk.

  2. These teens are both obviously troubled and running away from something,
It’s not easy being a teenager and it’s not easy being the parent of one either, but With compassion and lots of love, this too will pass.

Please don’t judge them, we don’t know what their lives are like or what they were going through.I can remember wanting to run away all the time when I was a teenager, and I had a wonderful family and home.I just wanted to do unsafe and stupid things and didn’t understand why my parents wouldn’t let me. I never did have the courage to run away and eventually,I grew out of that phase of my life and grew up,just like everyone else does.

Please pray that they come home safely and have a chance to grow up and have teenagers of their own.

“God keep them safe until their parents and grandparents can hold them in their arms again.Amen”
