Okay, you impeach Bush and Cheney ?who takes over?

Original post made by Norm, Midtown, on Jun 19, 2007

There may have been a point a couple of years ago when spending $100 million plus and grinding Congress to a halt for the sake of impeaching Bush, Cheney, or both. That time is gone.

1. The election is only 17 months away ?do you really believe the process could finish before then?
2. Does the budget have the surplus to pay the bills for a double Whitewater? (And don't be na´ve enough to believe it would be pulled only from war funding.)
3. Health care, immigration, global-warming, and many other "resolvable?issues are before Congress ?should those be abandoned at this time?

And the biggest, scariest question of all, impeachment or resignation ?

WHO WOULD TAKE-OVER AT THE WHITE HOUSE?

(Push for criminal indictments later if you wish ?those will hurt them most in the long run anyway.)

An impeachment would force the Congress to thoroughly investigate their high crimes. A criminal trial could be bogged down with legal machinations and the principals may never be in jeopardy. As we have seen, the government can stop a criminal proceedings by claiming "State Secrets" are endanger.

Actually...the 25th amemendment will keep Nancy out of the White House. Both the President and Vice President would have to be removed from office simultaneously for the Speaker to move her desk....e.g., Bush and Cheney are on trial and convicted in the Senate together...(not going to happen)...or die in the same place crash (not going to happen either). If Bush is convicted first, President Cheney nominates a new VP under the 25th. If Cheney is convicted first, Bush picks a new VP. So...I'm guessing you would have a few months of a President Rice or President Powell to look forward to before your liberal dreams of a President Pelosi would ever come true.

Since every issue is a disagreement of interpretation of available information, The prosecution would have to prove that the information against the administration was clear and unambiguous, and that there was no contrary intelligence.
Since the administration stated position was also the stated policy of the previous administration, who undoubtedly would be called as witnesses, the wind blows out of the sails.

Gold star to steve for bothering to read the Constitution. If Cheney should be impeached or regin, Bush could appoint Rove as VP. Or if Bush goes first, Cheney could do likewise. Do we want to go there?
You can bet they have a short list.
