Though she studied economics in graduate school at Harvard, her passion from early on was for education and child care. She founded a nursery school in Cambridge, Massachusetts, serving as its director until she decided to move to California with her husband, Robert. They raised their two children Douglas and Martha in Palo Alto.
She began working at the Parents Nursery School in Palo Alto in 1969 and continued to work there until her retirement in 2005. Many parents and students she worked with have spoken to the strong impact she made on them.
An ice cream social will be held to celebrate her life and birthday this coming Sunday from 1-4 p.m. at the Parents Nursery School at 2328 Louis Road in Palo Alto. To RSVP, email email@example.com.
