YEAH, TEAMS ... Kudos to several local real estate teams, who made the list of top performing teams (by volume) for 2011, noted by the Wall Street Journal and Real Trends. Ranked #53 nationally were Carol Carnevale and Nicole Aron, Alain Pinel Realtors, Menlo Park, with $95 million in sales; Susie Dews, of Coldwell Banker, Palo Alto, was #64 with $90 million; Royce Cablayan, of Coldwell Banker, Los Altos, was #109 with $70 million; and the McCormick Team, of Keller Williams Realty, Palo Alto, ranked #132 with $64 million.

ART IN THE GARDEN ... "Bountiful Inspirations" is this year's theme for Gamble Garden's annual Art in the Garden event, beginning with a preview party and artists reception on Friday, July 20, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Gamble Garden, 1431 Waverley St., Palo Alto. Tickets are $35 for nonmembers, $30 for members. Twenty-seven artists will be participating, including new art forms (floral images with colored pencil, glass plaques, marble sculpture, metal and ceramic fountains, acrylic images of vegetables and roses on redwood fencing). FRUIT TREE PRUNING ... Kate Nowell, horticulturist, will teach a class on pruning fruit trees on Saturday, July 21, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Filoli, 86 Canada Road, Woodside. The workshop begins with a demonstration and ends with hands-on practice; bring garden gloves and clean, sharp shears. Cost is $40 for nonmembers, $35 for members. FOR CONNOISSEURS ... Menlo Park's annual street fair, Connoisseurs' Marketplace, takes place Saturday, July 21, and Sunday, July 22, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., along Santa Cruz Avenue between El Camino Real and Johnson Street. More than 200 artists will show their works in ceramics, glass, art, jewelry, leather, textiles and more, with live music, chefs' demos, green products showcase and garden exhibits, food and drink. FREE COMPOST, MULCH ... Palo Alto residents may pick up free compost and mulch at the Sunnyvale Material and Recovery Transfer (SMaRT) Station in Sunnyvale, 301 Carl Road.
