Gas pipe tied to Cupertino explosion being replaced in Palo Alto

Questionable gas-distribution mains are susceptible to cracking

A type of polyethylene pipe implicated in an Aug. 31 Cupertino condominium gas explosion also is used in south Palo Alto, city utilities spokeswoman Debra Katz confirmed Monday.
