Caltrain to resurface tracks this week

Bookmark and Share
Caltrain crews will resurface the tracks between the Menlo Park and San Antonio stations from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16 through Friday, Feb. 22.

Some construction noise is expected, but there will be no passenger delays, according to a Caltrain statement.

Resurfacing corrects uneven alignment of rails caused over time by compression of the ballast under the tracks. It reduces jerks experienced by passengers and lessens the mechanical strain on the rails, according to the Caltrain website.

If this can reduce the number of jerks, then they should try it on the freeways, too!

They should also put fences where there is none, or where they are ridiculously short (on the north and south of Churchill and Embarcadero). There was an incident last night on that spot behind town and country. Time to act do not wait till you have more than 10 to do it.

I don't want to get deleted by the editor, so I will not provide the obvious alternatives - however, it is very naive to think that a low fence is the only way onto the tracks.
