Man cited for attack at Cogswell Plaza
Four incidences of battery reported in Palo Alto over six-day span

Bookmark and Share
A 49-year-old man was cited for assault and battery after he allegedly tore a man's shirt and kicked the victim on Sunday, Feb. 3, Palo Alto police Agent Jean Bready said.

Nick Solorio, a Gilroy resident, allegedly walked up to a group of people sitting at a picnic table at Cogswell Plaza at Ramona Street and Lytton Avenue and challenged the victim to a fight after a conversation.

He allegedly grabbed the male victim by the shirt, tearing the garment, and kicked the victim in the shins. The other people at the table called police and placed Solorio under citizen's arrest, Bready said.

Solorio was given a citation for assault and simple battery and for an outside warrant, she said.

The incident was the fourth battery in Palo Alto in six days. On Jan. 30, an unknown person allegedly pushed a victim at 4000 Middlefield Road.

On Feb. 1, Tenisi Angianga, 48, was cited for battery and released after allegedly shaking an acquaintance at Rinconada Park during an argument between his four friends over a point during a doubles tennis match.

On Feb. 2, a landlord allegedly grabbed a tenant by the hand and caused scratches during a long-running landlord-tenant dispute at a commercial building in the 3500 block of El Camino Real near Matadero Avenue.

Police referred the incident to the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office because of numerous arguments prior to the incident, Bready said.

Why are catfights newsworthy in Palo Alto?

Agreed. Printing this sort of stuff saves the Weekly having to do any investigative reporting, however.

It is news because people have a reasonable expectation not to be physically attacked, and it is happening more often than it should.

Quit complaining, it's reasonable to print trends in police reports. If you don't care I think you don't have to read it. Some people will complain about anything.

This is not Russia...we have free speech and this is the beauty of free press...it you want censorship, go to a communist country.
