Hazardous materials spill in industrial Menlo Park
Firefighters respond to reported spill of hydrochloric acid and sodium hydroxide
|
Firefighters from the Menlo Park Fire Protection District spent more than two hours Wednesday night, Nov. 14, dealing with a reported spill of hydrochloric acid and sodium hydroxide at around 7:50 p.m. at 1140 O'Brien Drive, according to a recording from FireDispatch.com. The property is a commercial building in an industrial campus off Willow Road east of U.S. Highway 101.
As firefighters were on their way to the scene, radio exchanges between the dispatcher and firefighters included reports that an employee had caused the spill, that it had been contained and that four or five people had been evacuated from the building.
Officials from the fire protection district have not yet responded to an interview request.— Dave Boyce Are you receiving Express, our free daily e-mail edition? See a sample and sign-up for Express.
