Clocks 'fall back' on Sunday
Turn back clocks, check smoke detectors, fire officials urge
|
This weekend, it's time to turn clocks back one hour. Sunday at 2 a.m. is the official end of daylight saving time.
With that extra hour of sleep Sunday, public safety officials are urging Bay Area residents to check smoke detectors and change batteries on the devices.
While changing clocks, fire officials suggest changing the battery on all smoke detectors to keep up with fire safety at home.
Fire officials from the San Jose Fire Department said that although Sunday provides a good time for an annual battery change, residents should be testing smoke alarms monthly.
Fire officials emphasized that a working smoke alarm helps make sure families have the best chance of survival if a fire breaks out.— Bay City News Service Are you receiving Express, our free daily e-mail edition? See a sample and sign-up for Express.

Kids will be coming back home at dinner time in the dark. They can't always be seen when they are riding without lights and reflectors don't work for cross traffic or if they happen to be riding on the wrong side of the road.
