Palo Alto attorney Dianne Sweeney will serve as the Santa Clara County Bar Association's president-elect for 2013 and will automatically assume the office of president in 2014, the association has announced.

Sweeney has practiced law in Santa Clara County since she was first admitted to the bar in 1996. She started her career at a small firm in downtown San Jose and now works in Palo Alto at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP.

Her practice focuses on complex business, tax and intellectual property litigation. She is a graduate of the Santa Clara School of Law. She has served on multiple Bar Association committees and is a member of the board of trustees.

Menlo Park attorney Matt Poppe of Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe will be secretary. Steve Haley, a San Jose attorney with Groom & Cave, LLP, will serve as the 2013 president.
