Motorcyclist, 80, killed in La Honda crash
Andrew Sager of Belmont killed Sunday afternoon
|
An 80-year-old Belmont man died in a motorcycle crash near La Honda on Sunday afternoon.
Andrew Sager was driving toward the coast on Pescadero Creek Road when he failed to negotiate a curve in the road at about 2:10 p.m., California Highway Patrol Officer Scott Niemeth said.
Sager lost control of his motorcycle and went down an embankment, Niementh said. He was declared dead at the scene.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash, and there was no indication that alcohol was a factor, according to the CHP.Are you receiving Express, our free daily e-mail edition? See a sample and sign-up for Express.

Posted by Resident, a resident of Another Palo Alto neighborhood, on Aug 13, 2012 at 3:31 pm I have heard about 70+ year olds needing to be tested for drivers licenses, but what about motorcycle licenses?
RIP to the victim and sympathies to the family, but at least he appears to have died doing something he loved.

Posted by a biker's daughter, a resident of Stanford, on Aug 14, 2012 at 12:21 pm My dad still rides both road and off-road motorcycles at 81!
He is soooo happy and active.
He is one of the few people I know to have experienced heaven during his retirement and if he dies while riding, he will experience heaven at his end too!
:)
:)
I send my best thoughts and support for the family of this man!

Posted by Wendy Sager Sorensen, a resident of another community, on Aug 15, 2012 at 4:16 am I cannot believe that I am sending this message out! Andrew Sager was my Dad and I want others to know what a wonderful, loving, man he was!! While I am devistated at my loss, it is a tragic loss for my step-mom, and all my family, including my brother & his family, my son's, my grand children, my whole family, and all who had the joy of meeting him!! My Dad was the most special man I ever knew. He lit up a room with his smile; he was a loving man with a heart of gold and he adored his family. Everyone who met him, even casually loved his kind spirit and sense of humor; all who met him wanted to know him!! I rode with him every time I was in the Bay area or when he rode his bike to Southern California where most of his family lives. Those are times I will cherish for ever!! There isn't enough space to write all the wonderful qualities he had and the love and support he showed me and his family!! I want to thank all who have posted condolenses or messages of support and those who were there to try and help or prayed for him, thank you and God bless you!! Please pray for my step-mother, our family, and his friends. Thank you.
