Stanford’s Makenzie Fischer, Maddie Musselman and Rachel Fattal each scored twice and the United States women’s national water polo team beat the Netherlands 11-5 to win the title of the Canada Cup on Saturday.

Stephanie Haralabidis added two assists and two steals for the Americans (32-0, 4-0), who host the Holiday Cup in Princeton beginning Monday with a game against Russia at 4 p.m. (Eleven Sports).

The U.S. will also play the Netherlands, Canada and Italy in pool play. The championship match is scheduled for Saturday.

The Americans have won 61 consecutive matches dating to early 2018.

Kaleigh Gilchrist, with an assist from Stanford grad Jamie Neushul, put the U.S. ahead to stay 37 seconds into the second half with an even strength goal.

Former Cardinal standout Maggie Steffens scored midway through the third quarter to which the Netherlands responded with a goal 20 seconds later. Musselman , on a Stanford alum Jordan Raney assist, and then Raney scored in quick succession to make it 6-3.

The U.S. carried a 7-4 lead into the final period after Stanford’s Makenzie Fischer scored the first of her two goals.

Alys Williams scored with 19 seconds remaining to play in the second quarter to bring USA even with the Dutch, 2-2, at halftime.
