Menlo College football ends season on winning note

The Menlo College football team celebrated senior day Saturday with a 38-28 victory over visiting Valley City State University as Wade Hawkins rushed for 146 yards and scored twice, and Brandon Bell ran for 108 yards and a score.

The Oaks (5-5) took a 24-7 lead into halftime en route to completing their first non-losing season in three years.

Jordan Hakuole caught a 10-yard scoring toss from Hawkins to put the stamp on a 7-play, 81-yard drive. Hawkins raced 69 yards and 52 yards for scores and Christian Daog kicked a 30-yard field goal for Menlo. Kenneth Martey added a 2-yard touchdown run.

Jaden Rosselli, playing in his final game, led Menlo with seven total tackles. He was followed by Gabriel Deol with six. Cameron Grad recorded a game-high two tackles for loss as part of a five tackles-for-loss effort by the navy and white.

Hawkins was 20 of 29 passing for 193 yards. Senior Devin Young pulled down four passes for 79 yards in his final game as an Oak. Mike Alexander also capped off a sensational career for Menlo with a four-catch, 34 yard afternoon.

Senior linebacker James Yoder proved a dual-threat in his final game at Menlo recording four tackles on the defensive side and 25 yards on four rushes offensively.
