The Menlo College men's soccer team came within 1:18 of upsetting Division II Dominican College of San Rafael on Monday, instead settling for a 1-1 draw in nonconference action.
Menlo (2-0-1) hosts San Diego Christian College at 3 p.m. Thursday.
Andrew Cota, who took six shots on the day, including three on goal, scored with 3:02 remaining in the first half to put the Oaks ahead.
Junior goalkeeper Martin de la Torre, who recorded four saves on the day, nearly held off the Penguins.
Swap Mushiana managed to get the ball into the net with 1:18 remaining in regulation.
Menlo had the best chance to win in the first overtime period, as Sean Kane's shot with just under two minutes left was saved, leading to a corner kick, which Dominican was able to defend.
In the second overtime, the Penguins had two good chances to score, hitting the post on one and going high on another shot.
The Oaks had an advantage in shots, 12-11, and Dominican had the edge in shots on goal, 6-5.
Christian Abrego also recorded a shot on goal for Menlo. The two teams combined to receive five yellow cards.
