Cameron Wilson shot a second-round 5-under 65 on Saturday at the Olympia Fields Country Club in the Fighting Illini Invitational, helping the Stanford men's golf team move up a couple of places into fourth heading into Sunday's final round.
Stanford shot a 287, with three of its top four golfers improving on their on their first-round scores. Menlo School grad Patrick Grimes contributed with a 77.
Wilson shot the best round of the day, as eight golfers shot par or better on the day.
Alabama opened a 21-stroke lead over Texas Tech as Robby Shelton moved atop the leaderboard after shooting a 4-under 66.
Patrick Rodgers was 1-over 71 and sits in 11th place with a two-day total of 144.
Clemence Couteau scored the game's only goal as No. 10 Stanford earned its second consecutive shutout and fourth straight victory Saturday, defeating Central Michigan, 1-0.
Stanford (4-1) held advantages in shots (23-3) and penalty corners (13-4) but was unable to get on the board until Couteau netted the game-winner on Stanford's 20th shot at 45:07.
It was Couteau's second consecutive game-winner after scoring the go-ahead goal last Sunday against VCU. Couteau has two game-winning goals on four career shots.
Central Michigan's Sadie Reynolds was a major factor in keeping the Cardinal off the board and the Chippewas (2-4) within striking distance, making 14 saves in net, including nine in the first half.
Stanford earned its second shutout in as many games and has not allowed a goal in 208:39. The Cardinal last allowed a goal on Sept. 6 at 1:21 against No. 20 New Hampshire.
Dulcie Davies made two saves en route to her second shutout of the year and ninth of her career.
