Final Rinconada Park community meeting tonight

The City of Palo Alto will hold the last community meeting on the Rinconada Park Long-Range Plan on Thursday evening, Sept. 12.

Established in 1922, Rinconada is Palo Alto's second oldest park. The long-range plan evaluates will guide future improvements. City officials will look at community uses, park development and amenities. The plan will be divided in phases to spread out the cost of renovations.

This is the fifth community meeting regarding the park. A review of the long-range plan designs is available at www.cityofpaloalto.org/rinconadaplan.

Last time I looked, Rinconada Park looked fine.

Last time I looked at the Baylands, the boardwalk was in a mess, the interpretive center was closed and an eyesore.

If any park needs money spent, then it is the Baylands not Rinconada.

Please look at Baylands before any city park that is in fine shape.

I agree Resident, Rinconada Park is more than adequate. With that thought in mind, why are our city leaders and elected officials discussing a non-essential park upgrade when they have no funding plan to pay for our vital infrastructure needs. Unless one counts another bond measure and tax increase as a funding plan. The reason we don't have the funds to pay for our basic civic needs is because we cater to the special interests and spend friviously on fluff, feel good projects, and non-essential services.

No improvements are needed for Rinconada Park, other than enforcing the ordinance that forbids drinking alcohol in the park without a special permit. Lots of out-of-town drinkers I. The park on weekends!
