Police have identified the woman who was found stabbed to death in an East Palo Alto apartment as 47-year-old Philomena Ashford-Anderson, according to an East Palo Alto police press release.
Ashford-Anderson is listed online as a substance and drug abuse counselor in Redwood City.
Police have booked Richard Slaughter, who they believe was in a dating relationship with Ashford-Anderson, for murder charges.
Slaughter was arrested on 9:31 p.m. Monday in Redwood City for driving under the influence and a minor traffic collision, according to the release. After being treated at a local hospital, Slaughter was booked at the San Mateo County Jail at around 3:30 a.m.
Police stated that shortly thereafter Slaughter provided them with information that led them to an apartment on 45 Newell Road in East Palo Alto.
They found Ashford-Anderson dead inside, with multiple stab wounds to her upper torso, according to the release.
Police stated that Slaughter and Ashford Anderson may have been residing together.
