Menlo School senior Maddy Price took the first step in her attempt to make the Canadian track and field team that will compete at the Pan American Junior Championships in Medellin, Colombia toward the end of August.
Price went 57.16 to qualify third overall (she won her heat) in the 400 meters at the Canadian Junior Track and Field Championships on Friday in Sainte-Therese, Quebec.
The 400 final will be contested on Saturday, after she runs in the preliminaries of the 200.
Florida State's Sage Watson was the top qualifier in 55.12.
