Woman, 95, dies in Page Mill/Foothill crash
A 95-year-old woman from San Carlos died when the car she was driving apparently turned in front of another vehicle at Page Mill Road and Foothill Expressway/Junipero Serra Boulevard shortly before 3 p.m. Thursday. The intersection was reopened to traffic at about 5:15 p.m.

Shooting in EPA leaves one seriously wounded
A person was shot and suffered life-threatening injuries about 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the 2200 block of Pulgas Avenue in East Palo Alto, according to East Palo Alto Police Department Detective Tracy Turner.

Two Palo Alto students win $36,000 each
Two Palo Alto college students have won $36,000 each from the Helen Diller Family Foundation in San Francisco for their "extraordinary social action" activities. They are among five California teens to win the awards.

EPA man sentenced for embezzlement, theft
A 38-year-old East Palo Alto man was sentenced to five years in state prison Thursday after he had been earlier convicted of embezzling and stealing almost $5,000 from an 80-year-old Palo Alto woman while posing as a roofing contractor.

Woman robbed in Stanford Research Park
A 25-year-old woman walking in the Stanford Research Park near Hanover Street Thursday was robbed of her purse by a man with a gun, Palo Alto Police Agent Dan Ryan said.
